Floppy drive is just removable media 3.5-inch diskette drive. Your drive controller will at least
support one floppy drive. It uses 34-pin ribbon data cable to connect the floppy to the drive controller.
The floppy data cable has twist at one end and 34-pin connector on both ends.
What you should know
All floppy drives come in 3.5-inch and are easy to install.
You do not need to set any jumpers for the floppy drive as you normally would for hard drives and CDs.
Floppy data cable is unique and is not compatible to connect with other drives.
Installing the Floppy Drive
Your computer case may have floppy frame or sliding rails that slides in to the drive bay or method of inserting the drive directly to the case.
1. Locate where your floppy drive slides into the case.
2. If drive frame or sliding rails required, (disconnect the frame if required) insert the drive into frame or sliding rails, fasten the drive to the frame and slide it back to the case. Otherwise, insert the drive directly into the cage and fasten the drive with screws.
3. Connect the floppy drive data cable to the motherboard drive controller. Floppy drive cable is 34-pin with twist end.
4. Connect the other end of the data cable to the floppy drive. Twisted end should be connected to the drive.
5. Connect the 4-pin connector from the power supply to the floppy drive.
6. Turn on the computer and test if the drive works.
If the floppy drive light stays on while the computer is running, is indication of driver not working. Reverse cable connection is possible issue.
Your floppy drive does not need any software or bios settings to work. It should automatically work once you install it properly.
You can set the boot sequence in bios if you need.
