Windows XP Control Panel

The control is the interface to the operating system that configures any specific function.
To acces the control panel;
go to Start|Control Panel.
You can view the Windows XP control panel in two ways; Classic View and Category View. The switching link is located top left pane of the control panel.
Category View groups together similar task interfaces and provides more details of the object with instructions of its function.
Classic View presents list of all the tasks in the panel. Classic View is more easier and quicker for most users.

Control Panel Functions Overview

Mouse Enables you to customize your mouse settings such as button configuration, double click speed, mouse pointers and motion speed
Network Connection Enables you to set up your network connection or view network connections
Network Setup Wizard Helps you to set up your network connection
Phone and Modem Options Enables you to configure your telephone dialing rules and modem settings
Power Option Enables you to configure energy saving settings for your computer
Printers and Faxes Enables you to view installed printers and faxes and helps you add new ones
Regional Language Options Enables you to customize for display of languages, numbers, times and dates
Scanners and Cameras Enables you to add, remove and configure scanner or camera
Scheduled Tasks Enables you to schedule computer tasks to run automatically
Security Center Enables you to manage your computer security settings such as firewall, automatic updates and virus protection
Sounds and Audio Devices Enables you to change the sound scheme for your computer or configure settings for your speakers and recording devices
Speech Enables you to change settings for text-to-speech and for speech recognition (if installed)
System Enables you to maintain your computer as whole
Taskbar and Start Menu Enables you to customize the Start Menu and the Taskbar
User Accounts Enables you to add, remove and maintain user accounts
Firewall Enables you to configure your computer firewall
Wireless Network Setup Wizard Enables you to set up or add wireless network
There might be more or less icons on your control panel depend on the version of Windows XP and Server Pack installed your on your computer.
